James "Jim" Bruce Haworth

March 26, 1952 - June 14, 2021

James “Jim” Bruce Haworth, 69, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born March 26, 1952 in Shelbyville, IL to Kleon and Mary (Wortman) Haworth.   Jim graduated from Shelbyville High School and enlisted in the US Army where he worked as a military policeman for 2 years. Jim met the love of his life, Missy Haworth, in 1979 and they married December 21, 1980 in Charleston, IL. Jim committed his life to helping others and worked as a dedicated pharmacist for over 30 years. Jim was incredibly proud of his 3 children and the families and careers they built for themselves. Jim will forever be remembered for his green thumb and love of gardening. He found such joy in creating beautiful landscapes around his home and tending to his flowers alongside his wife. He was an excellent chef and was known for his late-night sweet tooth. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and attending races with his family. He found a true passion in the thrill of antique picking and restoring timeless pieces of furniture for others to enjoy. Jim enjoyed motorcycles and surprised everyone when he bought his own Harley Davidson. Jim was an avid animal lover throughout his life and could often be found sitting on the porch with his 3 shih tzus by his side. Once he became “Papa Jim”, his love for his granddaughters was infectious and he loved spending time with the girls and watching them play and laugh.   Jim is survived by his wife Missy Haworth, son Kyle (Haley) Haworth, son Derek (Chrissy) Haworth, daughter Tara (Waylon) Wright, brother Gary Haworth, sister Penny (Brad) Jiter, and granddaughters Maren Haworth and Eleanore Haworth; and 2 soon to be grandsons.   Jim was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 12pm to 2pm at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home located at 21 N. Main Street, Manteno. A luncheon will follow services at the home of Derek Haworth, located at 3154 W. 9000N Road, Manteno from 3pm to 5pm (please park on gravel drive). Family may arrive earlier if they wish. Memorials maybe made to the wishes of the family.
