Arthur Fred Kopsell

Arthur Fred Kopsell was born in Crystal Lake on June 15, 1922 to John and Elsie (Meier) Kopsell. He passed away on March 13, 2014. Art proudly served his country in WWII, joining the United States Army at the age of 20. He served as a medic in Guadalcanal and Okinawa. During his service he had the privilege to see both President Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Art is survived by his nieces and nephews Jim Petschow (Laura), Jane Petschow Gerrity, Jeff Petschow (Patricia) and Bob Kopsell (Kathy Campbell). He is also survived by his great nieces, Jill Schiavone Muradian (Kevin), Elizabeth Gerrity, great nephews Michael Gerrity (Brandy Watson) Adam Gerrity and one great great nephew, Benjamin Muradian. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth (Harry) Petschow, his brother Willard (Lorraine) Kopsell and his niece Joan Kopsell Schiavone. A military service will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Our family wishes to thank the Veteran’s Home in Manteno for the wonderful care they gave Art in his final years.
