Peggy R Hubbs

Peggy R Hubbs, 84, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Manteno passed away Wednesday March 2, 2016 at The Highlands of Dallas. She was born January 5, 1932 , in Anna, IL, the daughter of Fred and Connie Keller. Visitation will be held Sunday March 6, 2016 from 2pm to 7pm and a funeral service will be held Monday March 7, 2016 at 11am at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno, IL. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL On October 16, 1948 she married Robert “Bud” Hubbs in Anna, IL. Peggy had a 32 year career at the Manteno Mental Health Center in Manteno. Peggy was a Member of The Eastern Star. In 1974 Peggy was the grand Worthy Matron of The Dorcus Chapter of this lodge. Peggy was always called on for her nieces and nephews moving to college apartments. Aunt Peg would get their new home cleaned from top to bottom and enough homemade food to last for weeks, This process became known as being "Pegerized ". After retiring in the 80's Peggy and her Husband Bud loved to travel. One of their favorite destination was the west coast. They were both big fans of Las Vegas and have made many of those trips a family and friends event. Everyone loved making this trip with them it was an" all fun no sleep adventure" when you were with Bud and Peg. After retiring they had a home in Tampa Florida to escape the Illinois winters. After losing her beloved mother at the age of 101 in 2014 Peggy made the biggest change in her life and she moved to Dallas Texas. After living in Manteno for more than 60 years she decided it was time for a new change and moved to Dallas. In true Peggy fashion she soon became the go to person for others in her condominium community. If there was a storm, meeting or happy hour they all gathered at Peggy's place. She made friends fast and loved her city life. Peggy will be remember by those who loved her with having such a sweet smile and a kind heart. She had a strong sense of style and never left the house with a hair out of place and shoes and handbags matching was a must. Recently, Peggy was talking about her cancer journey and instead of discussing the disease she shared how grateful she was for family, friends, and caregivers. Peggy managed the last issue in her life as she did everything in her life..with grace and dignity. Surviving are three daughters, Brenda (Hubbs) Johnson & Raymond Benedict of St. Petersburg, FL., Javada (Hubbs) & William Presley of Marion, IL, and Charm (Hubbs) & Barrett Faulkner of Dallas, TX. One son, Kerry & Elizabeth Hubbs of Manteno, IL. 10 grandchildren, one brother Richard Joe & Jackie Keller of Kankakee, 1 sister in law Eva Keller of Bloomington, 1 brother in law David Flores of Tuscon, AZ. Peggy was the older of five children and she was the true matriarch of the family. Peggy was the go to person for her 3 brothers and sister as well as her beloved 12 nieces and nephews.
