Jane A. Shreffler-Hebert

Jane Annette Shreffler Hebert, 84, of Manteno, suddenly moved to heaven December 27, 2023 at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. She was born in Kankakee, Illinois on February 6, 1939 to Daniel Oliver Shreffler and Freda Ann Siemetz Shreffler. She was raised in Manteno, Illinois where she resided until her death. She married the love of her life, James Robert Hebert on June 23, 1956. They met a local skating rink and fell in love. Together they made their home and raised their family in Bourbonnais, Illinois and later settled in Manteno, Illinois. Jane worked for Kroger until she retired in 1995 as a baker. She also taught religious education for fifth grade students at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno, Illinois for over 40 years. She loved to bake and had a home baking and catering business called Cakes for All Occasions. She had many passions. She was a devout Catholic and loved the Lord. She was a member at St. Joseph her whole life. She started every day in prayer. She lived like Jesus and helped everyone she could whenever she could. She was an amazing wife and built a family with her husband Jim. They raised NINE spirited children who carry in them everything that made Jane amazing. Jane enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, canning, baking, cooking, entertaining and sewing. She cared for her 53-year-old disabled daughter Julia in her home. Family was everything to her. She lived in between the Manteno Lakes by her parents, sisters, and brothers. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved supporting her church and many other charities. Surviving are her children, three sons are Danny Hebert of Manteno IL, James Hebert of Kankakee IL, and Timothy (Lora) Hebert of Marion IL. She also has six daughters Jennifer Ann Schnell and her life partner, Joe Bechard of Manteno IL, Veronica Nelson of Bourbonnais IL, Juanita (Rick) Spangler of Decatur IL, Julia Jan Hebert of Manteno IL, Katrina Sewell of O’Fallon, IL, Marsha Hebert of Manteno, IL. Surviving brothers are John (Kathy) Shreffler of Manteno IL and Sam Shreffler of Ashkum IL. Surviving sisters are Danielle (Danny) Ramien of San Marcos TX, Kathryn (Jim) Kingston and Tina Dumontelle both of Manteno, IL, and sister-in-law Linda Shreffler of Manteno, IL. She has 26 grandchildren, Aaron Love, Valerie (Rob) Clodi, Mary (Juliette) Hebert- Zach, Cynthia Schnell (Jason) Nowman, Alice Schnell (fiancée Jesse Fox) Jillian (Joe) Lipa, Janna Schnell (boyfriend Juliano Gutierrez), Jack Schnell, Jake Schnell, Jace Schnell, Brent Nelson, Blake Nelson, Brianna Nelson (fiancée Zurie Clemons), Javier (Graziella) Zavala, Kaytlynd (Brandon) Lainhart, Keirstyn (Samuel) Worden, Karrissa (Taylor) Jenkins, Kyriah Spangler (fiancée Ladayle Thompson) Konnaleigh (Nathan) Thietje, Kaleb and Karson Spangler, Elijah and Mikayla Sewell, Josiah Rose, Noah and Gabriel Hebert. She has 25 Great Grandchildren Keaton, Khygan, Brigston and Paislee, Adeline, Avery, Kas, Thomas, Hannah, Reese, Ryne, Zalina, and Baby Gutierrez, Hayley, Emalyn, Hayden, Elliot, Dean, Mayra, Isaiah, Kaedynce, Everleigh, Judah, Albany, Cambria, Emaris, Jaxon and Baby Lainhart. Preceding her in death, were her parents Daniel and Freda Shreffler, sister Maryann Curwick and brother Ronald Shreffler Sr. and grandson Korban Spangler. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 5-9pm at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home in Manteno, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 5, 2024 held at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Manteno. In honor of Jane, the family asks that all celebrating her life, wear her favorite color, turquoise. A trust will be established for the care of her precious disabled daughter Julia Jan Hebert.
