Carrie L. Rogers

Carrie Lynn Rogers, age 54, of Manteno, passed away at Riverside Medical Center with her loving family by her side on Monday, July 3, 2023. She was born on April 1, 1969, in Oak Lawn, the daughter of Carbie C. and Barbara Ann (Classon) Smith. On December 28, 2011, she married John S. McDermott at their home. Carrie was a loving and selfless person with a magnetic personality; she was always doing what she could to help others, cracking jokes, and gesturing the peace sign. Carrie was very faithful and spiritual, always one with nature and the outdoors. She loved the sound of windchimes and trains, the sight of rainbows and weeping willows, butterflies and angels, as well as being out on the water. All kinds of animals made her happy, especially dogs. She simply enjoyed life and spread that love to everyone around her. Her children were the light of her life, and nothing was better than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carrie was even able to be here when her very first grandbaby arrived. She was a fun-loving individual with much to offer to the world. Everyone loved her cooking, and she was known for her famous baked beans and lasagna. When she wasn’t cooking, she loved snacking on her favorites: cotton candy, oatmeal cream pies, and milk duds. Surviving Carrie are her beloved husband of eleven years, John McDermott of Manteno; her three children, Jessie “Boog” (Joseph Beasley) Rogers of Manteno, Drew (Lauren) Crawford of Bradley, and Meagan Peterson of Crown Point, IN; three sisters, Rita Ward of Manteno, Nicolette (Michael) Mathews of Limestone, and Carlene (Jerry) Toler of Manteno; grandchildren, Callahan Carbie, Madyson, Lucas, and Isabelle; nieces and nephews, Mandy, Matthew (Michelle), Eli (Traci), Ashley (Nick), Erica (Alex), and Brenden (Maegan); several great nieces, nephews, and cousins; her very good friend, Dawn (Brian) LaFaber Jett; her mother-in-law, Marti McDermott; her North Carolina family and her California family; and many loving friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Michael Smith; and her father-in-law, Joseph McDermott. A Celebration of Life for Carrie will be held at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home in Manteno on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 3:00PM – 6:00PM. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. “It’s not about the things, it’s about the people.”
